Our service

The service we offer is available to anybody over the age of 18 who has been diagnosed with a life threatening illness. We impose no geographical restrictions on our admissions and everything, from food to therapy, is offered completely free of charge.

Referrals can be made by health professionals or by the patient and their family. After contact has been made, a simple fuss-free assessment process can begin. The first stage involves a telephone conversation, during which we ascertain the patient’s medical condition, home situation and how far they are able to travel. We then ask their permission for release of their medical notes to us.

Generally we aim to have all the necessary facts and documents ready and waiting for the patient’s preliminary visit. This enables us to quickly and effectively assess their situation and agree together on a suitable care plan. It is our strict policy to ensure that all our treatments are planned in full consultation with the patient’s healthcare professionals.

The family carer is also kept fully informed and once we have the go ahead, patients are welcome to visit us as often or as little as they like. We always do our best to provide a one-to-one care service. Patient numbers are usually low, enabling the care and attention each one receives to be very high.

We offer an effective and comforting service, not just for the patient but also for their family. Our respite service affords the patient’s carer some valuable breathing space to rest and recharge their batteries, safe in the knowledge that their loved one is in compassionate and capable hands.
