Since 1987, we’ve been striving to build a beautiful place to care for the terminally ill. After more than 20 years of fundraising (and a bit of help from the Big Lottery Fund) we have started building a 6 bedroom inpatient unit, at our day care hospice near Llandysul.
A new hospice for South Wales
The new hospice will cost £2million to build and has been designed in partnership with Hywel Dda University Health Board and other hospices to fill some big care gaps in our region.
We’re excited because it means people in the three counties of Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire will soon have fair access to the palliative care services they so badly need. The new hospice will offer much more choice and equality of access to care – inpatient hospice services have (until now) been inaccessible for large parts of the regional population.
We will begin phasing in our new services from November 2015, offering inpatient respite and end of life care services that are not currently available anywhere in the three counties. We will offer a full range of practical, emotional, social and spiritual care to families affected by life-threatening illnesses, completely free of charge.
