Free patient transport
We are delighted to now be able to offer free patient transport to and from our respite day care centre. This is a brand new service run by trained volunteers.
Who is eligible for free patient transport?
Anyone over the age of 18 who has been diagnosed with a life threatening illness and has been referred to our respite day care centre. Sorry, but only people who have no other reasonable way of getting to the hospice can benefit from our free patient transport service.
How to book free patient transport
Phone our friendly team on 01559 371222, or get in touch using the form below. It’s still early days for this new service, so we can’t guarantee we will be able to provide lifts for everybody, all the time. But we aim to grow the service steadily over the next two years.
Hospice volunteer drivers needed!
If you would like to volunteer as a driver, we would love to hear from you. There is very limited public transport in this rural area, so elderly and sick people can become quite isolated without transport. Volunteering as a driver can make a world of difference to a patient’s quality of life.
Our respite day centre opening times are Tuesdays and Fridays, from 10am to 3pm – so these would be the times that our patients would need picking up and dropping off. Ideally our volunteer drivers use their own vehicles, though we will do our best to arrange a car if you do not have one.
